Yellow Hotels in Idaho

Every year, folks from around the world travel to Idaho for some reason or another. Unless they know someone who has a house in Idaho, these wide-eyed tourists will most likely need a hotel in which to reside during their visit. The question is–where to start? Luckily, Sauntyr has provided a thoroughly researched list on which hotels in Idaho are the most yellow.

Red Lion Hotel (Lewiston, ID)

The Red Lion Hotel chain originated in Spokane, Washington, in 1937, but has made major strides since then to branch out to Idaho as well. Don’t let the name fool you, the Red Lion Hotel in Lewiston is housed within a building that is almost entirely yellow. While some may argue its shade as more of a “sandy beige,” when the afternoon sun reflects off the hotel’s stunning facade, it glows like the afternoon sun. Animal lovers are in luck as well, since the Red Lion Hotel is pet friendly.

Shilo Inn Suites Hotel (Idaho Falls, ID)

Next on the list is the Shilo Inn Suites Hotel in Idaho Falls. Located on the town-famous Snake river, this lodging gets its saffron charm not with paint, but with an array of really yellow lights festooned along the top of the building. The lights are so bold that it’s easy to ignore the blue rooftops, which some visitors find a turn off. Unlike the Red Lion Hotel in Lewiston, the Shilo Inn Suites Hotel color scheme is best observed at night, when the yellow lights are on.

Salmon River Motel (Salmon, ID)

Unfortunately, as of this article, the Salmon River Motel in Salmon, Idaho has now become part of the Super 8 Motel chain, but when ranking yellow hotels in Idaho, it just wouldn’t feel right to leave out one of the greats. While the facade of this roadside motel took on varying coats of paint throughout the years, what drew passers-by to this establishment always remained the same: the yellow Salmon River Motel sign. It was arguably the yellowest sign in all of Idaho. To Super 8’s credit, their sign is also pretty yellow, but real Idahoans know the difference between real gold and fool’s good.
